The fusion of nanotechnology and textile engineering has led to the development and improved performance of multifunctional smart materials in various application fields. One recent breakthrough is the one-step synthesis of AgNPs/CNTs spray-coating solution, which is used to anchor silver nanoparticles on multi-walled carbon nanotubes and apply them onto nonwoven fabric to create multifunctional smart textiles.
In this study, the addition of carbon nanotubes not only enhanced the fabric's conductivity but also improved its heating efficiency, enabling it to improve comfort in cold environments through electric heating. The incorporation of AgNPs enhanced the fabric's photothermal function, with a photothermal conversion efficiency of 89.7% under 100mW/cm illumination. The temperature could reach 45.0°C with a current of 1.0A.
This fabric also demonstrated superior piezoresistive and strain-transfer capabilities, responding in just 359ms under a pressure of 3.25kPa. Additionally, the fabric was capable of detecting subtle physiological signals, such as the wearer's pulse, finger bending, and spinal bending, while also monitoring environmental humidity in real-time.
The study's findings not only advance the technology of smart textiles but also address the unique challenges of preparing CNTs and AgNPs on nonwoven fabric in one step. This achievement has facilitated the design and manufacture of innovative materials with customized functions.
These developments will have a significant impact on fields such as electric heating, photothermal effects, thermal conductivity, and thermal treatment.
